Butterfly Wings -- Nanofibrils
SYNOPSIS
by Lin Hsin Hsin
What's Nanofibrils?
Fibrils
(Latin: fibra) are structural biological materials
found in nearly all living organisms
Chitin uses a fine balance between the highly ordered chain conformations
in the Nanofibrils & random disordered structures
The structural hierarchy of Chitin, its crystalline states
coupled with the natural biosynthesis processes to create specific structures & diversity
Neuron-guided Paradigm
Bioarchitectures
As we look inside, these images are expressions of the butterfly biostructures
which manifest the vivo development of nanostructures from:
🦋 gene expressions
🦋 enzymatic activities
🦋 chemical matrix
employed in different stages of the biosynthesis
They manifest the chitin-based photonic structures
which demonstrate optical effects due to interference of light
from approximately periodic structures
