Solar Energy
1991 February Lin Hsin Hsin Predecated Solar Energy with 42 lines
October 2026, 37 Years BEFORE The World Finally Catches Up

Stanza 1 -- The Scene

S☀LAR ENERGY — 1991 (Lin Hsin Hsin) October 2026: The World Finally Catches Up
some slept
some wept
some took off their hats
others alcohol fed
this was the scene
after the race
& off the solar EV's racing tracks
In 1991, solar was a party trick — a handful of prototypes at a Swiss race.

Lin understood the crowd reaction: most people were indifferent, a few were moved, most were drunk on the old order.

By 2026, the "scene" is over. Solar is not an event; it is the infrastructure you don't notice.

The indifference she described in 1991 is what it took 35 years to overcome.
this was the scene
after the race
& off the solar EV's racing tracks
She wrote "solar EV's racing tracks" in 1991 — two years after the first World Solar Challenge.

She knew these vehicles would leave the track.

In May 2026, Aptera's first production solar EVs rolled off the line with 50,000 reservations

The track is gone. The driveway is here .

Stanza 2 — The Prototypes

1991 2026
Sunraycer & Impact
Sunrunner & Spider without webs
spirit of Biel-Bienne II

She named the specific 1990s machines and understood their significance: they were not curiosities, they were prototypes of a future fleet

"Spider without webs" is a perfect image — a vehicle with no combustion web, no tailpipe, no fuel lines.

That is literally the 2026 EV architecture.
were all the products
of
solar energy labs
energy they collect
from solar panels that reflect
The "of" hangs open — products of what?

Of a vision that was 35 years before its market.

In 2026, the answer is: products of a world that finally funded what Lin was already writing about in 1991.

Stanza 3 — The Oil Crisis & The Threat

1991 2026
solar energy labs
energy they collect
from solar panels that reflect
"Panels that reflect" — she saw panels not just as collectors but as mirrors of the old order.

In 2026, 2,392 GW of global capacity (IRENA) generates ~2,800 TWh annually.

The reflection is clear: the oil era is what the panels reflect back at us.
oil crisis, economy slacks
these are industrial countries' greatest threats
In 1991, she named the exact mechanism:

oil dependency = economic vulnerability = national threat.

In 2026, this is the literal policy language of 30+ nations.

Energy independence via solar is a national-security strategy.

She said it in a poem. The governments said it in white papers 35 years later.
but remember, A pivot. She's about to flip the script from threat to opportunity. The world took 35 years to make that flip.
solar energy never lacks
in fact
this could be the latest power pack
"Never lacks" — she understood solar as inexhaustible in 1991, before the term "infinite energy" entered policy discourse.

"Could be the latest power pack" — she hedged with "could" out of humility, but the 2026 answer is: it IS.

Solar is now the single largest technology by installed capacity globally (IEA 2026).
between those who attack
& those who have been attacked
This is the line that should make energy analysts stop. In 1991, she framed solar as a geopolitical equalizer — the tool that breaks the attacker/attacked dynamic of oil dependency.

In 2026, this is exactly how the EU, India, and African nations frame solar: not as "green energy" but as sovereignty.

She saw the geopolitics before the geopolitics existed.

Stanza 4 — The Vision (Core)

1991 2026
in & out oif your research lab
slogan hangs & message spreads
keep your environment clean
by using petrol without lead
She mocked the 1991 compromise:

"keep it clean by using petrol without lead."

The irony is savage — the industry's answer to the oil crisis was to make the poison slightly less poisonous. She saw through it in 1991. In 2026, the answer is no petrol at all.

The "slogan" she mocked is now a museum piece.
indeed, this is sad
knowledge partially imparted
& insufficiently fed?
"Knowledge partially imparted & insufficiently fed" — she diagnosed the real problem in 1991: it was never a technology gap, it was a knowledge and will gap.

The science existed.

The world just wasn't fed enough urgency. 35 years later, we're still "insufficiently fed" — the IEA says we need 3× the current pace to hit net-zero by 2050.

Her diagnosis was correct and remains current.

Stanza 5 — The Rebuttal to Incrementalism

1991 2026
don't be misled & don't forget
it's still
benzene rings & hydrogen bonds cracks
She is calling out the false comfort of "cleaner combustion." Benzene rings = fossil hydrocarbons.

"Hydrogen bonds cracks" = the chemistry of burning.

In 1991, she refused to accept "less bad" as "good."

In 2026, PV + solid-state storage + green H₂ electrolysis have made her point moot: the benzene-ring era is over.
in the end
it is combustion & fuel burnt
with fewer pollution
per… haps?
"Per…haps?" — the ellipsis is the most important mark in the poem.

She is not convinced.

She is saying: "You're telling me the endgame is just... slightly less dirty fire? Per...haps?"

The 2026 answer to her "per…haps?" is: No. It is not combustion. Zero flame, zero tailpipe, zero benzene. She was right to refuse the compromise.

Stanza 6 — The Prophecy

1991 2026
step up the research in sun projects
in the distant future
you'll soon see
"The distant future" from 1991 is 2026.

"You'll soon see" — she said "soon." The world took 35 years. But she was right about the direction.
a new trend & fad
on the sun-filled tropical countries' racks
This is the line that should be framed in a museum.

In 1991, while the West debated lead-free petrol, she wrote that the future of solar belongs to tropical countries.

In 2026: Chinese exports to Africa hit 23 GW in 12 months (+53% YoY).

DRC +544%, Zimbabwe +282%, Egypt +176%. Six African nations are now gigawatt-scale solar markets.

She was the only person in 1991 who saw the Global South leading the energy transition.

The West is still catching up to her 1991 poem.
even after energy infinitely trapped
the sun is still intact!
The closing line is not optimism.

It is a fact, stated with the calm of someone who knows the sun doesn't need our permission.

Even after 35 years of "trapping" its energy into panels, grids, and batteries — the sun is still intact.

It will outlast every government, every oil company, every poem.

Lin Hsin Hsin understood this in 1991.

The rest of us are still learning.
